This is the most common category of material for drawer-style gift boxes, offering a wide range of specific types:
Single-layer paper: Includes white cardstock, black cardstock, coated paper, kraft paper, and gold/silver foil cardstock. These are cost-effective and easy to print on, making them suitable for standard party favors and small gift packaging.
Corrugated paper: Available in three-layer or five-layer specifications. It offers high compressive strength and is economical and eco-friendly. It is frequently used for shipping and food storage, and the box can be repurposed for storage after use.
Premium gift box paper: Uses greyboard or MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) for structural support, with outer coverings made of specialty paper, velvet, or leather. These boxes have a substantial, high-quality feel and are typically used for premium product packaging.
Plastic Materials
Common materials include PET, PVC, and PP. They are waterproof, durable, and highly transparent. Food-grade versions can come into direct contact with food. They are ideal for displaying contents clearly-such as for beauty samples or stationery storage-though care should be taken to avoid recycled materials that may have an unpleasant odor.
Other Specialty Materials
Wood: Often made from solid woods like walnut, offering a warm, textured, and high-end feel. Suitable for premium tea or collectible gift boxes, though moisture-proofing is essential.
Acrylic: Highly transparent with a refined appearance, making it ideal for display-oriented gift boxes; however, the corners are relatively vulnerable to impact.
