A Step That Makes a Difference
The Shouldered Lid Gift Box has a step inside the base. We call it a shoulder. The lid rests on this shoulder when closed. The shoulder keeps the lid from sliding sideways. It also adds a clean visual line. The box looks more substantial and well-made.
Precision in the Shoulder
The shoulder must be straight and even on all four sides. We cut the greyboard with precision dies. The shoulder angle must be consistent. We measure the shoulder width for every batch. The tolerance is ±0.3mm. Our assembly team uses fixtures to position the shoulder during lamination.
The shoulder height is also critical. If it is too high, the lid will not close fully. If it is too low, the lid wobbles. We check every box for correct shoulder height before it leaves the line.
Board Thickness and Stability
The shoulder needs thicker board to hold the lid weight. We use high-density greyboard of at least 2.0mm for the shoulder area. The base is reinforced with extra layers. This prevents sagging.
Finishing and Interior
Surface finishes include foil stamping, embossing, UV, and lamination. The shoulder can be finished to match the rest of the box. Some customers choose a contrasting color for the shoulder to highlight the step. Inside, we fit EVA foam, velvet, or sponge cutouts.
Applications
This box is popular for tea, spirits, watches, and cosmetics. The shoulder gives a premium feel. It is also used for corporate gifts where presentation matters.
